There is a saying in Buddhism that I think is a very interesting way to look at both religion and faith. "If you meet Buddha on the road, Kill Buddha". The idea in the Buddhist religion is to reach enlightenment. The problem is to often what the human idea of enlightenment is wrong, thus you must kill (change/remove) it. But I feel like this can translate to some many other things. Life, is a journey (the road from above). We have certain things that we feel are important or that we place in high importance, that we have put on a pedestal. If we have the gall to 'kill the Buddha' to get rid of that thing on the pedestal, then we are closer to replacing it with what should be there.
As a Christian I am told to mirror Christ. I am suppose to forever be pushing myself to be more like Christ, to be a better person. If I was willing to kill Christ (as bad as that sounds), would I be able to get closer to Him? It definably is an interesting way to look at things. If I could identify what is standing between myself and Christ, I would in theory be able to get closer to Christ. At the moment what is standing in the way, is mostly myself. I like to be in the way.
So "IF you meet Buddha on the road, Kill Buddha."
