If you spend as much time on the Internet as I do (all day at work and most nights) and you do not have a TV, you might begin to watch things on Hulu. Since I love to watch things, while I'm doing something else, hulu is great! Mostly because it is free.
But I digress, the main reason I need to talk about Hulu is because of this great 'show' they have called LXD. Its a Hulu show, and it runs only about 20mins (sometimes shorter) per episode. Now there is a story, although its rather segmented and some of the acting is just horrible. Nevertheless I have become slightly addicted to the program (OK really addicted) and Why? Because most of the story is no spoken, its danced. LXD stands for the legion of Extraordinary Dancers. And some of the segments are just amazing.
Unfortunately at the moment the show is mostly male dominated and leans strongly towards the hip-hop on other modern dance forms. I would love to see some classical dance. The story is so interesting, so strange. Most of the time I don't really pay attention to the narrator at the beginning, I just want to see the dance. So far robot love story is my favorite.
But what I find as the best part of the whole idea behind LXD is the story, more importantly how you tell the story. Most people now a days have never seen a ballet dance, with a story, something with no words, but the movement itself moves you. Even if I would never make it as a professional dancer, I love how movement is such a strong part of theatre. Sure you can tell the story with words, but if you act it out, can it be more powerful?
