I.
Powdery white clouds building
In the robin egg blue sky
which from a far are castles
Or lovely shapes
Till their dark edges
over come you and
the thunder rolls across the land
and lightening brilliantly lights
the darkening black sky
and the wind blows it all away
till once again its just a
Powdery white cloud building
In the robin egg blue sky.
II
The Smell of rain at night
that damp clean smell
which makes you smile
which makes you feel clean
the darkness of night
the smell of rain
the sound of water
bouncing and dancing
running and dripping
III
Sleeping in on Saturday morning
with the cool wet weather
safely kept outside
a warm wood fire
and a comfy sweater
a good book and time to read it.
IV
The humid days of summer
when all you want is rain
when the air around you
speaks of sweat and heat
the clouds are hiding
and the only damp coolness
is gathering in sweat beads
on your hot, sun burnt skin
V
After a rain fall, the drip drip drip
the trees and leaves and houses
slowly empty the water
from top to bottom
from leaf to leaf to leaf
gently dripping in the puddles
and running down in little streams
which somehow become larger
greater, bigger, mightier rivers
but it all starts with the drip drip drip
VI
Watching the rain come over the hill
sheets after sheets slowly advancing
like soldiers on attach, marching in unit
gathering strength, till the first drip hits
gathering to the down pour which hides
the valley, hides the road, everything
in the sheets of grey rain, which fall
from the grey black clouds above
Watching that rain again recede
slower, but still in sections
retreating line by line by line
till everything is left dripping
till everything is left clean
and the sun comes bashfully out
and soaks everything in its rays
which glisten through every small
drop like a prism, which splashes
the rainbow across the blue, grey sky
VII
Making mud pies in new dressed
with Georgia red clay
Ending is scoldings from parents
and many tears over ruined dresses.
VII
The mat grey skys
which give way to
mat grey rains
which go back
to mate grey skys
and leave the world
grey, grey, grey
